The device is installed as a HID (Human Interface Device) in Windows and data from the magnetic stripe is inserted where the cursor is - as they were entered on the keyboard.

In the ISO standard, it has been decided that magnetic card readers should issue certain control signs before and after data from the magnetic card itself (the control characters are not inserted in the document). This makes it possible to determine whether the data in question comes from the magnetic card reader or from the connected keyboard.
