Software is not required, as MCR123O-B works with all operating systems such as. DOS, Windows 98, NT, 2000, Win XP, and Win 7 / 10. Read data is inserted where the cursor stands as if you were entered - called HID. In the ISO standard it has been decided that magnetic card readers must submit specific control characters before and after data from the actual magnetic card thereby it is possible to determine whether the data in question comes from the magnetic card reader or from the connected keyboard.

Setup can only be done with PS / 2 connection. In normal operation this does not matter.
