HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) can partly be seen that SCART connector's digital successor in TV, partly as a further development of the DVI-D with the addition of sound. All newer HD TV has one or more HDMI inputs and many computers are equipped with HDMI outputs.
HDMI contains in addition to digital image also digital sound and just the digital transmission of
Photo and sound ensures that no loss of image quality caused by long cables and electrical noise.
TV equipment such as Blu-ray and DVD players, hard disk recorders and similar uses increasingly HDMI, but older equipment has not necessarily a digital output.
Equipment which can only analog outputs as VGA or component (YP b P R ), can still be connected to monitors with HDMI input using CNV VGA HDMI. Further informations YP b P R can be found in the knowledge database of www.danbit.dk
HDMI having different bandwidths, color depths, and resolutions, depending on the audit. Today much equipment rev. 1.3, with a max. Resolution of 1920 x 1080, which is from 2006.
The latest rev. 1.4 2009 adds higher resolutions (4096 x 2160) 3D, two way audio and an Ethernet channel to the standard.
